Shouldn't the wire on the primary be thicker than the secondary?

Also, I'm not sure if I agree with C1: 0.2uF isn't a standard value, it should be 0.22uF Values <1uF are also normally be a non-polarised And it should be a lower value, perhaps 1nF to 10nF.

This circuit gives quite poor performance as the waveform driving the tube is asymmetrical; it has a higher peak negative voltage than positive voltage causing the tube to only be lit for half the cycle and one of the filaments to burn out before the other.

Using a Royer converter will solve these problems as it uses two transistors in a push-pull configuration to give a more symmetrical drive.

I'll write an article about the Royer converter and link it to this article when I get round to it, unless someone doesn't beat me to it.
